For devillishly-good shoes, no-one can beat Jeffery-West, now celebrating a year of success in Manchester with its stand-alone store in Barton Arcade.

The iconic shoes are a favourite with celebrities including Manchester's own Take That, David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Noel Gallagher (who bought a pair for his good friend Paul Weller). In fact the store in the Barton Arcade goes to great lengths for its customers, famous or not. Even making bespoke pairs for Stockport's John Amaechi, the 6ft 9-inch basketball star, who takes a size 14!

Manchester's most famous model Agyness Deyn also has been spotted in Jeffery-West patent purple brogues taking a man's size six. Each pair of Jeffery-West shoes are meticulously crafted in England using traditional techniques yet features the signature twist of originality which brings them bang up to date.

The latest collection from founders and designers Mark Jeffery and Guy West continues the unique flair that has given them a total foothold on the celebrity rock and roll market with other fans ranging from Tom Jones (who orders five pairs of black suede at a time) to recent convert Slumdog Millionaire movie star Dev Patel and man of the hour, Jenson Button.

Opened last June, Jeffery-West Manchester showcases its iconic men's shoe collection as well as a treasure trove of accessories. Billed as infamously English shoes, inspirations include Byron and the Dandy movement and Bauhaus's Pete Murphy (who's image can be found on key pieces from cravats to umbrella handles).

The signature mark is the much copied and admired cleft heel, combined with using only the finest materials and design twists such as hand burnished uppers, diamond broguing, gothis architecture and George Cross references and even song lyrics seared into the soles.

"Our philosophy is simple. To make the best and most stylish shoes we can. It harks back to classic English craftsmanship with most of the shoes made in Northampton", said Guy.

Starting from £200, Jeffery -West shoes are an investment piece built to last.

"People still wear shoes from out first collection because the quality is so good and the styles are timeless" said Mark.

"They look great with jeans and equally as good with suits. They are addictive. Once you've worn Jeffery-West, there's no going back".

As well as shoes, Jeffery-West Manchester has a range of accessories including walking sticks, umbrellas, scarves, cufflinks, watches, wallets and bags.
